We had a very pleasant run down from Calabash to Myrtle Beach today. We were meeting up Kathy and her husband Bob, friends of a friend from back home and they live only about 3 miles from Osprey Marina. So I called this morning and booked in and we duly arrived around 2pm.
It’s a lovely marina just off the ICW but very well protected by loads of trees. The staff are very friendly, the tariff is only half of what we were paying in Wrightsville Beach, and to top it all we were presented with a goodie bag on our arrival. Inside was a selection of toiletries and food stuffs – what a nice gesture. 
Kathy called and came to pick us up around 4.30pm and we enjoyed a lovely dinner at their home. Unfortunately Bob had to work but we were able to drop in at his work and meet him too. He is Australain so there was a fair bit of Aussies/Kiwi bantering. We then did a bit of shopping before Kathy took us on a tour of Myrtle Beach. It is a hugely popular holiday destination with lots of accommodation and activities along the beach front. They have recently built a wheel similar to the London Eye, called the Myrtle Beach Sky Wheel – it looked amazing. http://www.skywheelusa.com/ Then it was back to the boat for some coffee. Thank you Kathy for your wonderful hospitality and the lovely gifts. They are all very much appreciated.
We saw a few unusual things along the way today -
- Casino Cruise Boats – apparently they have to go out to sea for about 30 miles before the gambling can begin.
- The Grand Dunes Bridge – a private bridge for a private residential area.
- Playing a game of golf and need to get to the next hole? The ICW in the way? No problem just take a cable car!

We’re thinking of staying put tomorrow so that Lance can install the dinghy davits and if he does I will most likely do some of that awful four letter word called ‘work’!
